Rome Edition: In Bloom with Josefine Samuelsson

In Bloom with.. is a series dedicated to good people we have around us and our AW17 collection. This is the first part of the Rome Edition, where we met the coolest people for a small convo about their city.
First out is Josefine Samuelsson - @josefineasamuelsson

Age:

40

Occupation:

Stylist for the Italian teenage brand called Subdued

Your favourite thing to do in Rome on a Sunday afternoon?

Ok, in the afternoon I will most definitely visit the Borghetto Flaminio Mercato, it's quite a big flee market where old rich ladies sell their stuff. I got soo much great stuff from there (amongst others a leather jacket with long long frills from Donna Karan from 1994, unworn shoes from Fendi's 1983 collection, a dark blue biker jacket from Les Copains, a leopard printed Valentino blouse. The list can go on forever).
I'll wrap that up with a nice glas of red wine with my friends at Giulio Passami l'Olio in the very heart of Rome.

Favourite restaurant, café or bar in Rome at the moment. Why?

Finger is great! Lovely food and great service. Nice environment. It's a restaurant that is quite "in" at the moment so you can do a fair bit of people spotting there. But I guess you don't come to Italy to eat Japanese food, so go to Trattoria Settimio dell 'ArancioGorgeous Italian food. Lovely wines. Great service.
Bars? Gosh... if you want to go clubbing and bar hanging I'd advise you to go to Palazzo Dama, and their club Raspoutine. But it very much depends on the evening. Thursday are quite ok. I don't club much. I prefer eating.

Where do you shop clothes, area or specific shop...?

I already mentioned Borghetto Flamino. Another famous and big flee market is Porta Porteses (only open on Sunday 07-13). Here you can find anything from vintage linen gowns from the beginning of the last century with amazing hand made lace. I also buy all
my bed linen there! Antique beautiful bedlinen for less money than IKEAs mass production. But you can also find glitter blouses from the 70's for a wild disco night. And the jewellery.. if you are lucky you find exclusive silver pieces for less than 10 euros.

Via Frattina and via Borgogna for you international high street shopping, via Condotti and via del Babuino for luxury shopping and via Governo Yecchio for more vintage stores and via Serpenti for a bit of everything. Via Serpenti is located in the cute neighbourhood Monti, where you must stop for a glas of something on Piazza della Madonna dei Monti.

Where do you go for “people-watching” / just to hang out in Rome?

Piazza delle coppelle, Monti, my little favorite wine bar il Gocetto on via Banchi Vecchie.
If you want to join the student crowd you should go to the San Lorenzo area close to the Termini station. But I'm too old for that.

Favourite museum or art gallery in Rome?

National Gallery of Modern Art! It's located in villa Borghese. It was recently updated and has a great collection of international as well as Italian artist from last century.  Or go to Villa Medeci on the top of the Spanish steps. Check up what exhibition they are doing when you are there, no, just go there anyway. Villa Medeci in itself is worth the visit. The garden, the cafe. Just go.

And also Maxxi Museum. Made by the late Zaha Hadid. For architecture lovers it's a must.
